The Angel with a Dirty Face.

The magazine I work for went off to print yesterday, which is a total relief. I've started a new comic in the children's section called The Angle with a dirty Face. I've been sketching this comic for a while so I've got loads of material which I'll be posting here, along with background info on the characters and sketches.

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right" The Beatles.

Kids Corner: Pete's Latest Guises and Drawing Competition

I started a drawing competition in the children section of the Magazine and I'm please to say we've had a lot of entries. It has a different theme every month, the first being to draw Pete however they liked. The second theme was 'The Sea' and saw Pete as a Pirate. This months theme is 'Adventure' and Pete has taken on the role of a Knight.

Rocket line test animation.

When I was drawing the rocket on my ‘Little Prince’ illustration I thought that it would make a interesting animated GIF. I finally got round to it yesterday managed to get down the basic movement. Hopefully I’ll get to finish it soon.

Un beau Jour Pour le Petit Prince: One Fine Day for the Little Prince

My piece for Olney in Bloom depicts a day in the life of the Little Prince and his love, a rose, that he nourished after she mysteriously started growing on his Asteroid B-612.
The Little Prince bestowed all his affection upon the rose, listened and conversed with her and made her a screen glass globe when she desired to be protected from the cold. The Little Prince’s affections unintentionally inflame the rose’s vanity and eventually she demands too much from him. Feeling exploited he decides to leave his home and embark on a journey across the cosmos. Before he leaves, however, the rose apologises for her cruelty and they reconcile.

I thought the Little Prince’s story to be a perfect example of our love for flowers and the effort we exert to help them bloom.

Moominpappa at sea! Ship in a bottle.

I made this as a gift for my friend Marika.
I met her one year ago when I first moved to Olney from Newcastle. She had also just moved to Olney as an au pair from Finland. We had a lot of conversations about the Moonmins and a few stupid ones which this illustration sums ups.
A group of us went out on Saturday to send her off and It’s safe to say she’ll be missed.
All the best Marika.

Painter Pete

I've been swamped with work lately so I haven't been posting as much as I would have liked to. I have been able to do some sketching on the evenings in my spare time and I'm going to start building my own website soon.

Here is this months Kids Page.

Building a Website

Recently I built my first website, it's for the magazine published by the company I work for.  I designed and built it myself and I must admit I've had a lot of fun doing it. I'm already working on my next website, and then I'll be building one for myself! I've got some good ideas if I can pull them off.
Here is the link if you want to check it out the Phonebox Magazine website.

Pedal to the Metal Pete.

There is a car show this month, so Pete's sporting some racing stripes on his face and got himself a fancy car.

Red Fox

It's been a busy couple of months, I moved house again. This time thankfully it was only a four minute drive as opposed to a four hour one.
I got my new studio space set up in my new pad last weekend, so I've been drawing in there after work on the evenings. Work has been busy to, I built my first website (which I'll post later). So I've been drawing and designing non-stop.

With this one, I wanted to try some new colouring techniques, and some new brushes I made.

Pete's Page

This is how Pete's page looked in the magazine. The letters sent in by the youngsters has really picked up in the last few months, which is good considering they could be playing video games.

Flamingo Seamless Pattern

This print is actually made from a seamless pattern and is not seamless.
I may be going to sell these as prints. I'll post an update soon.
Flamingos always remind me of Alice in Wonderland.

The Dark Knight

Drew this at home just for a bit of fun. I'm going to work on some other 'Supers' over the bank holiday.
I've been the hammering Metal Gear Solid HD collection for the past week after a bout on Batman Akrham City. So the feeling I wanted to capture in this was pretty much stealth.

Sparkle Melt Exhibition

I was asked by a very good friend to contribute a piece to the Sparkle Melt exhibition last week. It took place in Barloco in Newcastle. I was pretty pleased to still be thought of even though I've moved down south. Unfortunately I couldn't make the event myself and after looking at the photos of the event it looks like I missed a belta.
It was an open brief, I could do anything I wanted as long as it incorporated the theme, Sparkle Melt.
here's my piece, I went for a bond girl inspired look.
Each print came wrapped up safe in a sleeve I made.
